Air Fresheners

OK, I hate air fresheners. First reason, people use them to try to mask odors that indicate other problems, such as odors from mold. Just clean, don’t mask odors. Whenever I inspect a home with lots of air fresheners, I’m thinking, OK, what are they trying to hide?

Secondly, they irritate me. I may be overly sensitive, but I’m not alone. Air fresheners emit Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) that are considered a source of indoor air pollution. If you test a home with a bunch of those plug in air fresheners for air quality, they test off the scale for VOCs!

Health problems can occur from the chemicals and secondary compounds formed with the air freshener chemicals combine with ozone in the air. Repeated exposure can cause health problems.

Just don’t use them. They aren’t necessary and can cause problems.
